The Center for Regional Development will provide leadership and contribute practical solutions to implement the land use and economic development recommendations of Regional Connections that will result in a more prosperous and sustainable Central Ohio while improving the overall quality of life.
How will the Center for Regional Development accomplish this?
The Center will work with the local governments, non-profits, the business community, and the citizens of the region to continue to develop and refine the comprehensive vision for Central Ohio first articulated in Regional Connections.
The Center will create and support a “toolbox” of applications to help local leaders, planners, and developers to make more strategic and comprehensive decisions about land use and economic development. Some example tools will include:
- Online GIS tools
- Fiscal Impact Analysis Model
- Land Use Model
- Carbon Footprint Model
- Library of model codes and plans
- Online clearinghouse for regional development and planninginformation and data
The Center will act as a “think tank” to foster open and collaborative analysis and policy development of regional development and economic issues with impact on businesses and local governments.
The Center will facilitate collaboration among governments and businesses throughout the region to minimize duplication and conflict and strengthen regional initiatives.
The Center will advocate a strong policy agenda to our State and Federal legislators focused on the challenges facing the region.
