Ohio Bipartisan Job Stimulus Plan

U.S. EPA Brownfields Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund and Cleanup (ARC) Grants

Ohio EPA Clean Diesel School Bus Fund Retrofit Grants Program
This grant program helps school districts retrofit their diesel school buses with pollution control equipment and use cleaner fuels to reduce emissions. Priority will be given to applications from school districts in communities that do not meet the federal air quality standards for outdoor concentrations of fine air particles, and districts that employ additional measures such as anti-idling programs, to reduce emissions from their school bus fleets. Ohio Diesel Emissions Reduction Grant Program
The program is available for all public diesel engine fleets and private diesel engine fleets (with public sponsor) that have at least 20% matching funds and who are committed to operating their updated equipment in Ohio non-attainment-and-maintenance counties at least 65% of the time.
Ten awards have been announced from applications submitted for the State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2008 program (due February 11, 2008). Additional funding opportunities in SFY 2009 will most likely be announced in the Fall of 2008. For more information visit the Ohio Department of Development's website.
B20 Biodiesel School Bus Grant Program
The State of Ohio Department of Development, Ohio Energy Office (OEO) is soliciting applications from interested and qualified parties seeking funding to help cover the incremental costs of using B20, a blend of 20% biodiesel with 80% petroleum diesel. This program provides an opportunity for school districts and county Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (MRDD) programs and similar local agencies that provide K-12 education to begin using and benefiting from B20 biodiesel in school buses. Alternative Fuel Transportation Grant
The Ohio Energy Office funds this grant opportunity aimed at installing new alternative fuel refueling stations in metropolitan areas of Ohio. Those qualifying can receive $40,000 per biofuel (B20 or E85) and those that qualify to convert can receive $10,000. The application process remains open until funds are exhausted or the end of the fiscal year is reached. The Freedom Prize Foundation
The Freedom Prize Foundation grant is awarded for a creative use of pre-existing technology in five categories: industry, military, schools, government, and community. Over 4 million dollars will be awarded in Freedom Prizes. More information about the qualification guidlines and the application will be released in Fall of 2008. U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Older Worker Demonstration Grant
The U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration has approximately $10 million available for Older Worker Demonstration Grants. Awards will range from $750,000 to $1 million. The grants focus on addressing the challenges faced by individuals aged 55 and older in today’s workplace. Click here for more information.
This competitive grant funding is targeted at Ohio's local governments and private sector businesses for a variety of recycling, litter clean up and scrap tire management projects. Grants range from $50,000 to $350,000. Applications are due February 2, 2009. For more information visit the
