As we continue into the 21st Century, can we risk pursuing transportation priorities and system improvements the same as we did in the 20th Century?

To answer this question the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission is hosting a series of Ohio Transportation Policy Events in 2008 that will:

  • Discuss challenges facing the nation’s surface transportation infrastructure and explore opportunities for Ohio’s transportation future
  • Explore new and creative approaches to funding sustainable transportation
  • Help define a new vision for transportation financing and policy development in Ohio
  • Build an agenda of national priorities for Ohio to pursue in Washington

The first of these events, The Ohio Transportation Leadership Forum, will discuss challenges facing the nation’s surface transportation infrastructure and explore opportunities for Ohio’s transportation future. To establish the current situation for transportation policy and infrastructure in the state and in the country, this event will feature national and state speakers including Senator George V. Voinovich, Jack Basso, Director of Management and Business Development, The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, Anne P. Canby, President, Surface Transportation Policy Partnership and Jack Schenendorf, Vice-Chairman, National Surface Transportation Policy and Revenue Study Commission.

Ohio needs you to create a vision for transportation and a business plan on how to achieve it. Join us in the journey that will take us from the problems of today to the promise of the future. RSVP by March 13, 2008, your commitment and support to take part in the future of Ohio’s transportation. Attendance is limited.
